The Industry

The Brazilian auto parts industry recovered in 2010, what was left behind in the previous year when it experienced the shock of the financial crisis which halted the largest economies on earth. The approximately five hundred Sindpeças members with the (The Brazilian Association of Autoparts Manufacturers) and Abipeças (Brazilian Association of Auto Parts Industry) in 2010 earned approximately $ 49.8 billion - 31.4% more than in 2009.

The number of employees also increased, from 99,500 in 2009 to 224,600 the following year. Investments, another important indicator of performance, rose 3% in 2010 to $ 1.5 billion.

Traditionally exporter, the auto parts industry has shipped the equivalent of U.S. $ 9.6 billion in 2010, the year of frank recovery to158 countries. This volume represented growth of 44% over the previous year. The four main countries of destination of our production were Argentina, United States, Mexico and Germany.

REPRESENTATION - The Brazilian Association of Autoparts Manufacturers (Sindipeças) and the Brazilian Association of Autoparts (Abipeças) are entities that represent the auto parts companies installed in Brazil. Its members, about five hundred companies with domestic and foreign capital, provide for all local automakers, to the aftermarket and to the export segment.

Besides the headquarters, located in São Paulo (SP), entities are represented in the regional production of parts where there are: Bahia, Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. And the office in Brasilia is responsible for important contacts with the executive and legislative branches.

The performance of Sindipeças and Abipeças are based in four pillars of action: Industry growth incentive, information and caption, industry representation and defense, and membership.
